The Department of Energy and Climate Change (DECC) in England and the Department of Enterprise Trade and Investment (DETI) in Northern Ireland are the regulatory authorities responsible for licensing and regulating companies as to their obligations under their licences. All the other regulators including the Environment Agency (EA), local planning authorities (LPA), Minerals Planning Authority (MPA) and Health and Safety Executive (HSE) in England and Department of Environment (DoE) and the Health and Safety Executive Northern Ireland (HSENI) in Northern Ireland all play their part in permitting and supervision of the activities, specific to their area of regulation and expertise.
